Naked Pizza

by Corey on March 15, 2011

I was so excited to get invited to a tasting at Naked Pizza in Brighton.

Some healthy, delicious pizza was just what I needed after a long day at work.

I saw this pizza reviewed recently on We Are Not Martha, and knew I had to try it! I tweeted about Naked Pizza, exchanged some emails with them, and before I knew it there was an event!

[Twitter can be a very fast, effective way to communicate with individuals and businesses.]

Naked to this company means natural. Not only are they passionate about providing pizza that is truly healthy and made with real, natural ingredients, but a major part of their mission is changing the concept of “fast food”.

They are all about being transparent to their customers about what’s in their food and how it’s made, and they really emphasized the importance of treating their employees well.

The bright green color is their trademark!

The owners were nice enough to let us completely behind the scenes to show us how they do business efficiently and in the best interests of their customers.

Their 10 grain crust comes in a thick and a thin variety. It contains: oats, brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa, amaranth, teff, spelt, tapioca, and two kinds of wheat.

We saw the entire process: how they roll out and shape the dough, put the toppings on, put it in the oven, slice and box it.

They said from start (ball of raw dough) to finish (sliced and boxed) takes just 7 minutes.

IMG_1239

The sauce has just 4 ingredients: tomatoes, water, fresh basil, and a dried herb packet. I absolutely loved the sauce – it had a natural sweetness that was just right.

IMG_1240

They had all the usual toppings, but all of the veggies are freshly chopped daily (not out of cans), and the pepperoni is nitrite free, lower in fat, and the color is naturally created with paprika instead of artificial ingredients.

Then came the best part – eating!

Below is the Superbiotic pizza on the thicker crust, which I loved.  I also tried the Smokehouse and the Sonoran, both of which were excellent.

The crust was just right – crusty on the outside and soft on the inside – and the sauce to cheese ratio was spot on.

IMG_1246

The thinner crust is shown below. I really enjoyed that too, it just depends what kind of crust you prefer. Naked Pizza has both mastered.

This pizza did not “taste healthy” at all – it was just how traditional pizza should taste!

I had a great time chatting and eating with the Naked Pizza employees and these lovely Boston-area bloggers! I will definitely be returning to Naked Pizza.

What’s your favorite kind of pizza?

oww! I saw this place on We are Not Martha too and have been intrigued ever since! Love their philosophy and the ingredients in the 10 grain crust sound fabulous. My favorite pizza is usually loaded with vegetables or is a simple mozzarella and tomato

How cool! This sounds like such a great pizza place! I love that more companies are popping up that use natural ingredients.
We don’t have one here in Orlando, but it looks like they might be building some nearby so hopefully I can check it out!

I am a Mellow Mushroom fan – their crust is wonderful and the pizza just tastes so darn good! :)

I’m so glad I had the chance to come to the Naked Pizza tasting. It was really interesting (I loved the behind-the-scenes info!) and delicious. It was an added bonus that I got to chat with you again :)

Yum. I love their napkins too.

My favorite kind of pizza is probably some sort of veggie. Without green olives, I hate green olives.

I thought the pizza was gonna come out w/o a crust, based on the name! My favorite pizza is spinach.

Ooh that looks delicious! My sister went there last weekend and got the Greenhouse, and said it was seriously delicious. I would have picked the Superbiotic too! It looks so good. I love any kind of pizza with tons of veggies on top, and a nice chewy crust. I also love “healthy” pizza that doesn’t taste “health” or cardboard-like. it’s totally possible!

Major yum. I’m going to be in Boston the weekend before the marathon and might have to check this out if time allows. It looks positively scrumptious. I’m such a fan of healthier, fresh ingredient pizza.

I love the concept of this place! I love pizza and my favorite is really just a thin crust – or thinner crust (I don’t like a huge dense crust)!
